Try to start up from macOS Recovery

If your Mac seems to be turned on but nothing is appearing on your display, determine whether you're using a Mac with Apple Silicon, then follow the appropriate steps:

The line 64-bit Kernel and Extensions will say Yes if you are running the 64-bit kernel and No if you are running the 32-bit kernel. Note: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is the last release that a 32-bit Intel Mac can run, Mac OS X 10.7 Lion and up are, by default, 64-bit. Additionally, System Profiler was renamed to System Information in OS X 10.7. Blank hard drive - Find a USB external hard drive that holds at least 100 gigabytes (this is where you'll install your macOS stuff, so the bigger, the better). USB-C adapter - If you're working with a Mac that doesn't have traditional USB ports, you'll need a USB-C-to-USB-3.0 adapter. Ideally, the app should let users set an image to use as the backdrop for a blank desktop. This will give users a clean, blank desktop that is aesthetically nice to look at. It will also make for better screenshots. Download Screen Commander From The Mac App Store. Open Finder and search for Slack (make sure This Mac filter is selected). Highlight all copies of Slack and delete them. In your dock, right click on the Trash icon and select Empty Trash. Get the latest version of Slack, and install it in the Applications folder.

You might be able to call Apple and order a set of the original gray system discs. Last time I did this they were $16 each and I believe there are two of them. The retail disc is an earlier version of Snow Leopard (10.6.0) than was shipped with your Mac (10.6.3 or 10.6.4). The retail disc won't work because your Mac won't run an earlier version of the OS than it originally shipped with. So the problem is not with your computer but with the disc you are trying to use. In all likelihood the computer itself is fine.

Alternatively, you might be able to visit an Apple Store and see if they could install Sierra for you since your Mac will run it.
